National titles for NE Fencers!

This weekend at Manchester Fencing Centre the Veteran's National Championships were taking place over 2 days.  Four catagories of ages over 40 and three weapons were competing for selection for the World Championships in Maribor, Slovenia in October.

Saturday was the first medal achieved with Duncan Rowlands of Laszlo's Fencing taking the Cat. 2 50-59 title in the Men's Sabre event beating Carl Moffat in the final. For Duncan this was his third National title at the Veteran's National Championships!

On Sunday this was the turn of the women sabreurs and for Beth Davidson to continue her unbeaten record at this event! Beth was ranked 1st after the poules with a relativly easy run to the final beating Tracy Russen 10-1 and Emma Little Waller 10-1 to meet Jacqueline Esimaje-Heath for the gold medal match. After a close start, Beth pulled away to a 10-5 victory and secure a record 7 times unbeaten record!
