This weekend saw the Region's best fencers over the age of 40 battle it out at the British Veteran Fencing National Age Group tournament in Milton Keynes. Two days of fencing with four catagories of ages, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and over 70s, with the over 50s fighting to qualify for the World Championships later in the year.
Day one saw current champion Beth Davidson compete in the mixed sabre event in Cat. 1 where men and women are combined. Last year for the first time in the history of the competition a woman held the title so Beth was keen continue her trend which was achieved in just 5 fights, beating Emmanuelle Therond in the final bout to take Gold.
Day two was the opportunity for Carole Seheult (Cat 4), Anton Pollard (Cat 2) and Chris Cranston-Selby (Cat 2) to go for World Championship qualification. Carole took the silver and Anton took the bronze, securing their places at the World Championships. Chris Cranston-Selby improved his position from last year by coming 14th.
