On Saturday it was annual 5 Nations tournament taking place in Edinburgh where Home Nations of England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland battle it out for the Wilkinson Trophy!

NE Fencing Development Officer, Beth Davidson has been managing the England team for four years with an unbeaten record in the 5 Nations and Commonwealth titles! Beth says "It gives me huge pride to lead a National team! Creating an environment for success is something that cant be taken for granted and has to be nurtured at every interaction with the fencers!"

This team event with all weapons competing for trophies, moves around each Home Nation with the top fencers in the UK!  Newcastle fencer Abi Harvey was selected for the women's epee team who came second in the weapon and overall rankings.  This was the first time Abi had represented a senior Home Nations but regulary competes for GB junior events!

Preperations are now starting for the Commonwealth Championships near Glasgow in Novemember 2014, where Beth hopes to retain the title previously won in Melbourne, Austrailia in 2010.
