Wearside scouts achieve as leaders for Go Fencing

This week saw the formal presentation of certificates to scouts who passed their Go Fence for Leaders course that took place in the Washington district last month.

9 Scouts and leaders from Eppleton Scouts and1st Houghon (St Michaels) scout groups, tutored by Scout Leader Paul Sutherland, had to replace their fire sticks with Go Fence swords for this one day course to enable them to teach Go Fence to local cubs in the area.

This programme is part of a British Fencing Pilot Project to look at new ways to attract new people to fencing in partnership with scouting and cadet associations.

These new leaders are now preparing to deliver fencing to activity days with other scouts and cubs with an ambition to create a new club in the area!

Well done to: Diane Sutherland, Daniel Longhorn, Rebecca Dodds, Natasha Ambler, Ryan, Liam, Lisa and Iain Scott,
