Veteran's Winton Cup - Update

On the 7th and 8th September the annual Veteran's Winton Cup is a clash of regions for those aged 40 and over, trying to take this prestigious title  at Lilleshawl near Telford.  Team Manager, Carole Seheult negotiated with fencers from Scotland and Cumbria to create a true 'North Britain' fencing team, bristling with talent such as 9 time Commonwealth representative George Liston! But last minute commitments from some meant that some teams were short of numbers and it became an impossible task to improve from our last place position in 2012!  Our Regional Chair, Marie Matheson had to swap her epee for foil to try and acheive victories as a team of one!  Even Regional Development Officer, Beth Davidson's 100% victory record wasnt able to change the inevitable of 7th out of 7th place! Carole says "Many of the Scottish fencers were representing other regions but we are hoping to entice them for 2014! What we missed in results we made up in a great weekend!" For further information about British Veterans Fencing go to their website HERE If you are a fencer and over 40 years of age and interested in competing, contact Carole Seheult EMAIL
