Chris Cranston-Selby on the top of the podium

Many of our fencers were competing this weekend with veteran and senior events! The first was for Laszlo’s Fencing with Rachel Connor taking the silver in the epee at the Leeds Open. At the same event Anton Pollard and Stephanie Land also took silver in the Men’s Epee and Women’s Sabre.

Internationally Chris Cranston-Selby from Darlington Fencing Club and Street Swords coach was taking part in the Hungarian Fencing Federation Budapest Cup for Veterans. After the round of pools Chris was ranked 11th overall in the sabre and no.1 in his 60+ age group and securing a bye to the semi-final! In the semi and final, Chris beat a Hungarian and Czech both 10-5 to take the gold medal and his first taste of ‘metal ware’ !
